CLOTHING:
1. Turtlenecks are recommended and are available here, but large sizes for men are hard to come by.
2. Good athletic socks are sometimes available and are needed. Go with Polypropylene for best weight/warmth ratio. Ultimax brand socks or fleece socks are ideal for winter wear.
3. Gore-Tex jackets are ideal. You will need a warm winter jacket.
4. Shirts for layering (As described above).
5. Mittens and/or gloves are a necessity. You will find great use for these in class. Nice wool-lined leather gloves can be purchased here no problem. Fleece or wool gloves with half fingers that allow writing in cold weather are a definite help and can be purchased at ski shops in America.
- Women should bring a nice dress or two, men a sport jacket and a couple ties. You will be invited to banquets now and then.
Shoes or boots larger than size nine are almost impossible to come by country wide. A few are available in Nanjing, but it is wise to bring your own if your are in the over size 9 category. Return to first page.
